Main Areas of Responsibility

This opportunity will allow you to develop, through study and “on the job” experience, the knowledge and skills necessary to be a valuable Harris ICT Technician and in doing so support our efforts to deliver an outstanding IT support service to our Staff and Students.

No two days are the same as an IT support technician. Under the instruction and guidance of central and local IT Staff you’ll spend time between supporting school users to meet the academic, pastoral, and administration needs and the installation and maintenance of required software. Other responsibilities could include:

  • Incident, request and problem management
  • Ensuring that all IT Support needs are logged correctly on the Service Management system
  • Re-routing or escalating IT support tickets to the appropriate team or person.
  • Assisting, where appropriate, in efforts to resolve IT support tickets within the SLA.
  • Identifying recurring IT incidents and research potential root causes to the underlying problem.
  • Keeping the Academy staff informed about the status of their support ticket(s).
  • Notifying the local IT staff upon detection of a major incident affecting the operation of services.
  • Maintaining Windows 10 based PCs, Laptops, Tablets and Apple IOS devices.
  • Assisting with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer peripheral equipment
  • Installing and upgrading new software, ensuring compliance with software licensing regulations.
  • Preparing conference / meeting rooms with related IT and audio-visual equipment needed for the meeting.

Qualifications & Experience

We’re looking for someone who demonstrates resilience and uses this to think of ways to help solve the problem at hand whilst remaining professional and respectful to all staff and their students.

The ability to think on your feet is crucial. This dynamic role means your role will be varied. We ask that you remain motivated, and a willingness to take initiative.

We’re looking for fearless techies brave enough to be yourself, with enough self-confidence to be able to communicate with a range of people and can adapt your approach to influence others.

To succeed in this apprenticeship, you’ll need bags of enthusiasm, be a fantastic collaborator and be hungry to learn!

Even if this doesn’t sound quite like you, but you still think you could do a great job in the role, get in touch.

We’re always open to wildcards.
