Introduction to Deansbrook Junior School

Deansbrook Junior School believes that all students can become Leaders for Tomorrow.

We are a two-form entry school serving Years 3-6. 35% of our children are eligible for Free School Meals, significantly exceeding the national average for this measure of deprivation. The school also significantly exceeds national levels in all statutory assessments and offers an all-rounded education. 75% or higher achieved expected standards in Reading, Writing and Maths compared with a national average of 60%. 19% of students exceeded expected standards compared with a national average of 8%. The Assistant Principal will:

  • Ensure the implementation and monitor the effectiveness of the Academy’s teaching and learning policy, curriculum and assessment across the Key Stages
  • Maintain a relentless focus on the actions needed to deliver the school’s vision and create a world class school
  • Listen to staff, pupils and parents, actively seeking out their views and building them into the vision for the school
  • Ensure the implementation and monitor the effectiveness of the Academy’s behaviour policy and attendance policy across the Key Stages
  • Ensure that the school’s curriculum intent and implementation is embedded securely and consistently across the school
  • Sustain a focus on ensuring that pupils consistently achieve highly across the curriculum, including those who are disadvantaged and pupils with SEND
  • Line manage specific whole-school areas of the Academy
  • Disseminating good practice based on educational research across key stages and curriculum areas
  • Assist in the development of teachers
  • Use data to support effective learning for all students
